Temperatures in California and throughout the United States have hit the upper 90s to the 100s these few weeks. Many opt to drink ice cold drinks in summer but an article in NPR notes that drinking hot beverages actually helps your body cool down! People in tropical countries like India drink hot tea regularly, and scientists explain that receptors in our tongues and mouths let our brain know when to cool down.
